Town of Salem 2: Voice Chat Mode FAQ

Hey Townies! Here is an FAQ of the new ToS2 Voice Chat Game mode.
- Is Voice Chat optional?
- Yes! Voice Chat will be available as a special version of custom labelled “Custom (Voice)”. The existing text modes of the game will play the same was as they always have
- What are the requirements for playing the mode?
- You need to own the Deed to the Town
- Discord must be available in your region
- Do I need a Discord Account to use Voice Chat?
- No
- How does moderation work?
- Voice Chat lobbies are moderated to the same standards as Text lobbies, all the same rules still apply
- Can I use Text Chat in Voice Chat modes?
- Text Chat is disabled during Voice Chat games
- What do I do if another player is too loud or quiet?
- You can adjust the individual volume of other players to make them louder, quieter, or to mute them entirely
- You can adjust the global volume of other players in the settings menu
- Will other players have a lot of background noise? (Like fans, keyboard clicks etc)
- No, we have Noise Suppression built in and enabled by default to block out background noise, ensuring higher audio quality for all players
- Can I mute and deafen myself?
- You can! There is a hotbar item for muting and deafening
- You can also toggle these using hotkeys, similar to other hotbar items
- Will Voice Chat be available outside of Custom?
- In the future we would like to make a version of Casual mode with Voice Chat enabled, the initial launch will be exclusive to Custom so we can learn more about how players engage with the mode, what roledecks work, and what changes we may need to make to the mode
- What Platforms is Voice Chat available on?
- All of them!
- How does the Proximity Circle work?
- During the Discussion and Voting phases, everyone can walk around freely. If another player is inside your proximity circle, you will be able to hear them, you will not be able to hear players outside of your proximity circle
- How does House Locking work?
- During the Discussion phases, players may now enter each other’s houses. While inside a house, you can hear anyone else inside at full volume
- There is a button on your hotbar to Lock/Unlock your own house, this prevents players from entering, but does not prevent players from exiting
- How do whispers work?
- Whispers do not directly exist in Voice Chat modes, instead you will need to walk to a private spot with a player to talk to them in secret, or you can enter a house and lock it to privately discuss in there
- How do Auto Wills work?
- Your last will is now automatically typed out for you, and you can no longer edit it
- Only Town faction members will show their last wills on death, non-town faction members will not
- Why are there Auto Wills?
- When designing Voice Chat modes, we wanted to ensure players do not have to type a single word during gameplay. Part of this meant adjusting how last wills work to be fully automated. Since Text Chat is disabled, players cannot paste their last wills meaning they will have to verbally read them out and cannot be confirmed based on formatting
Thank you all for your ongoing support, feedback, and ideas. Your input plays a vital role in guiding our future content plans and game design decisions.
Happy Hanging!
